About the show

The first edition of the Eurovision Young Dancers took place in the Italian city of Reggio Emilia on June 16th 1985.

On this first edition of the competition, 11 countries took part: Germany, Belgium, Spain, Finland, France, Italy, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.

A professional jury chose the top 3 performances. The winner was the Spanish dancer Arantxa Argüelles, followed by the Norwegian dancer Arne Fagerholt, who came second, and the Swedish couple formed by Mia Stagh and Göran Svalberg, who came third.
