About Staša Tušar
Staša Tušar, was born in 1998 in Ljubljana (Slovenia), and is now 3rd grade student at the Bežigrad Grammar School Ljubljana - as well as 2nd grade student at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana.
She has been dancing since she was a young girl, and began exploring dance at the 'Urška dance club' in Ljubljana with Mimi Marčac Mirčeta as her coach. Her progress as a dancer has been recognised by excellent results at various national and international championships organised by the Dance Association of Slovenia (PZS) and the International Dance Organisation (IDO) in 2009, 2011 and 2012. She has been National, European and World Champion in 'Jazz and show dancing' four times in a tow, and in 2013 she also came second on the 'Modern Dance' category at the both the National, European, and World Championships.
At the American Dance Awards National Championship, a festival of modern competitive dance in Orlando, Florida, in July 2010, Staša won the highest award of the festival - the 'Ultimate Gold' in the Junior Dancers category.
Over recent years she has been widening and shaping the spectrum of her dance accomplishments at various international summer dance workshops (London 2011, Berlin 2012, Madrid 2013).
During the last two years Staša has been exceptionally successful, both nationally and internationally, in the category of contemporary dance with a piece called 'Gardenfound' - choreographed by Tanja Pavlič. She has appeared at event in Portugal in June 2013 (Festival de Musica de Alcobaca Cistermusica, Gala de Pequenos Bailarinos), in Maribor, Slovenia, in October 2013 (International Gala Ballet Performance Gaudeamus), in Hungary in March 2014 (contemporary dance performance Stars of the Future 2014), and in Vienna, Austria, in May 2014 (7th International Ballet and Contemporary Dance Competition, Vienna, Austria). In Vienna she won first prize for her outstanding performance in the category of dancers from 16 to 27 years of age.
For her dance achievements, Staša has received a number of prizes and awards, among them the Silver Badge (2011) and the Golden Badge (2012, 2013) from the Dance Association of Slovenia, three awards presented by the Sports Association of Ljubljana (2011, 2012, 2014) and an award presented by the Olympic Committee of Slovenia (2013); in 2012 she also received a scholarship from the Olympic Committee of Slovenia.
